This Balblair 2005 has been on the market for about six months now and has replaced the Balblair 2003 in its core range. This is the first release.

The Balblair 2005 has matured in ex-bourbon casks and is non-chill filtered.  It was distilled in 2005 and bottled in December 2015 at 46% abv.

Balblair 2005 tasting notes:

Nose: sugar syrup or even corn sugar, slight honey smell, lemon zest, quite young and spirit comes through. Nothing really expressive after the first smell. Some kind of barley or oats coming through.

Taste: no sugar in the taste, it’s more of a very light honey flavor which surprises me if you compare that to the smell. It’s sweet though through the honey flavor,  lemon, somewhat of green fresh apple, little bit creamy. For the rest rather flat in the taste.

Finish: chili spices or white pepper I can’t really define this. Lemon and fresh finish, really a nice summer dram. Nothing to heavy, some kind of spice is coming through right now, white pepper. Which is matching the sweet taste rather nice.
